Margo Adams Fan Club has won the Gibson Division and by virtue of the head-to-head tiebreaker, Juiced has won the Paige Division.  As Division Champions, these two teams have a bye in the first round.  Uncle Charlie's Yakkers will battle Moneyball Too for the right to play Margo Adams Fan Club in the second round and Budd Bay Buffleheads will take on Minions of Jobu for the right to play Juiced.

This is the final series of the regular season.  The playoffs will consist of 3 rounds with the top 3 teams in each division qualifying.  The #2 seed from each division will play the #3 seed from their same division in a 5 game series.  The winner of this series will play the #1 seed from that same division in a 7 game series, and the 2 teams remaining will then meet in the 7 game Championship Series.  The Budd Bay Buffleheads, Margo Adams Fan Club and Uncle Charlie's Yakkers have already wrapped up playoff spots but all playoff seeds are still up for grabs and only the Northside Trofs have been eliminated from playoff contention.  So there is still plenty to play for in this final regular season series.

Series 2 Database Available

1-29-10

The database for Series #2 is now available.  It does not yet contain all of the player statistics from the Series #1 games, but does include the team results, the pitcher and catcher usage stats and the option setting that will allow us to export the game stats correctly.  I will continue to enter player statistics and hopefully will have those done before the next series starts.  You can download the file by clicking on the Weekly Database Updates link under the sidebar on the right hand side of this page.  To install this update, use the Transfer-Install League Database option in DMB.  I then recommend that you double check the option that I didn't set before hosting any games just to be sure you will be able to export statistics correctly.  You can find this option under View-Organizer.  Select the League tab, double click on the MWO league and select the Rules/Options tab.  The option to check is "Game accounts (for stats transfer)".  Make sure it is checked.  Let me know if you have any problems (jthornton75@gmail.com).

Series 1 Database Available

1-17-10

The regular season database is now available so that we can get started with Series #1.  You can download the file by clicking on the Weekly Database Updates link under the sidebar on the right hand side of this page.  You will also need to download the ballpark images zip file from this same location and unzip those files in your parks directory.  Let me know if you have any problems (jthornton75@gmail.com).

Help with Getting Started

For those of you new to the MWO or for any who need their memory refreshed, here is some information on creating the database on your computer and using NetPlay.

To import the initial database, save the Series 1 Database file somewhere on your hard drive and then find it from DMB using the "TRANSFER -> Create League Database..." command.  This will create a new database which you can specify a name for and populate it with the data in the zip file you downloaded.

To set your Manager Profile (MP), go to VIEW -> Roster/Manager profile, select your team and then set your lineup(s), pitching rotations, depth charts and/or decision percentages.  These MPs will be used if you are not available to play a series and it needs to be simulated.  It also makes starting a game much faster if you have a saved lineup to use or at least start from and then modify.  Once you are done, click the Save MP button. To send the MP back to me, use the TRANSFER -> Export statistics command. Select your team, hit Next a couple of times, and then Finish. That should produce a small zip file suitable for emailing to me (jthornton75@gmail.com).

The person hosting each series will also use this TRANSFER->Export Statistics command for sending in the results once the games are complete.  Just email me the zip file that is created.

And from the DMB Forum:

Usually when there is a problem with NetPlay, especially if the problem is limited to hosting, it means that your home network contains a router. This could be your broadband modem that has routing capabilities or a separate router device, perhaps used as a wireless gateway.

Most routers are fairly easy to setup for NetPlay hosting by using a feature called Port Forwarding (some router manufacturers refer to it as defining a custom service or virtual server). When port forwarding is correctly configured, all incoming messages received on a specific port (or port range) will be able to pass through your router and will be forwarded to a specific local IP address (or computer) on your home network. All other unwanted incoming internet traffic will remain blocked as usual. The port number that Diamond Mind uses is 32158.

The instructions for configuring port forwarding vary by manufacturer and model. To learn how to configure port forwarding for your router, you can either consult your router's documentation or you can check out portforward.com, which has tutorials for virtually every commercially available router and modem.

To get started at portforward.com, locate your router from the list on the www.portforward.com/routers.htm page and click the corresponding link. On the next web page (skip the the full page ad), you will be presented with a list of common internet games and applications. Scroll down and click on the entry for "Diamond Mind Baseball". That will bring up detailed instructions about how to configure your router for Diamond Mind NetPlay traffic.

Once you have your router correctly configured, you will need to determine your external IP address. You can check your external IP address by going to a web site such as www.whatsmyip.org. This is the IP address that you will provide to your NetPlay opponent so that he may connect to you. Don't worry that your external IP address does not match the IP address that is reported in Diamond Mind's NetPlay control panel. That just means your router is doing its job.
